Lana Del Rey & Courtney Love Join Forces for The Endless Summer Tour
Lana Del Ray is hitting the road this summer, and she’s bringing an unexpected guest along for the ride: Courtney Love.
Lana’s tour will help promote her third album Ultraviolence, while Courtney Love is expected to perform tracks off of her much-anticipated solo album. Love’s album is expected to be released sometime in 2015.
Although Lana Del Rey and Courtney Love seem like an odd match, the two share two undeniable traits: talent and dysfunction.
Lana’s “The Endless Summer Tour” is set to kick off on May 7th in The Woodlands, TX and come to a close on June 16 in West Palm Beach, FL. Love will join Del Rey for the first eight shows on her tour.
Lana’s third album Ultraviolence debuted at #1 in the U.S. and 14 other countries. Since its release, the album has sold more than a million copies and was even named one of the best albums of 2014 by Complex and Rolling Stone.
Courtney Love’s most recent release with her band Hold was “Nobody’s Daughter” in 2010. This was the fourth and the final release for Hole. The album debuted at 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. Love also released two singles in early 2014, “You Know My Name” and “Wedding Day”. Both of these singles are rumored to be a part of Love’s upcoming solo effort.
Lana Del Rey, born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, rose to fame in 2010. The New York City native uploaded some of her tracks to YouTube and was discovered by Stranger Records. After signing with the label, Del Rey released “Video Games,” her debut single, which went viral. Her album Born to Die was released in 2012 and reached number one in 11 different countries.
Del Rey’s latest release Ultraviolence debuted at number one in a dozen countries. In 2014, the “Video Games” singer also covered “Once Upon a Dream” for the film Maleficent. She also contributed two songs (“Big Eyes” and “I Can Fly”) to the soundtrack for Tim Burton’s 2014 film Big Eyes.
Courtney Love is best known for her role as lead singer of the band Hole. The band was a prolific part of the grunge and punk scene in the 90’s. Love was also well-known for her marriage to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. In addition to music, Love has also made appearances in numerous films over the last two decades. Although her career has seen its fair share of highs and lows, Love is expected to release a solo album in 2015. It’s expected that Love will promote her latest release on “The Endless Summer” tour with Lana Del Rey.
